MISSION BLOG MISSION FOCUS: SPORTS

This January Free & Fit NYC relaunched in Washington Square Park with a Walk and Board Games activity night and discussion. We are excited to workout, reacquaint ourselves with our New York friends and share the Love of Jesus through Sports, the Arts, Respecting Animals, Social Justice & Service.

MISSION SCRIPTURE

2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgement and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

MISSION FOCUS: THE ARTS

Two years ago @freeandfitnyc started our Sports Mission here in NYC with some of the wonderful members of our group that you can see in this picture (above). This term we are exploring the Arts and our Mission is every Thursday to complete an activity demonstrating Patience throughout January through an Artistic or Arts based activity.

We are going to be sharing stories and learning from the locals in New York City join us from 6:30 until 8 (times and locations may vary). Looking forward to seeing you there. SIgn up on our website via www.freenfit.org

MISSION SCRIPTURE

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

MISSION FOCUS: SOCIAL JUSTICE. As part of our mission we serve our community through social justice partnerships. In these photos you can see various times where we have tried to share the love of Jesus through Social Justice.

As part of our summer camp we plogged (walking, jogging or running whilst picking litter), picked litter whilst jogging around Englewood and cleaning up a local park. We also did this in Hoboken and New York in the Spring of 2018. We sponsored a child at the Hillsong New York conference through Compassion Child Sponsorship scheme. We partnered with the Hoboken Shelter by donating food, speaking to their members and running the Hobooken 5k and Hoboken Turkey Trot. We collected food for the Centre for Food Action in Englewood and helped preserve their allotments with gardening with our wonderful youth group. We travelled to Puerto Rico and served with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to aid recovery a year after Hurricane Maria. We organized the first A21 Walk in Harrington Park and raised $200 for the Charity.

We also worked with Mile Square Church and the Hoboken Housing Authority to run an Alpha USA course to the local residents, helped with a Spring clean up in Hoboken and assisted with the local Real Talk ministry in Hoboken.

As we continue our efforts this coming year we ask for your help and support through sharing our campaign and raising awareness of these wonderful causes. Please check out our video and page below. MISSION SCRIPTURE:

MISSION FOCUS: SERVICE:

As part of our mission to share the love of Jesus through Sports, the Arts, Social Justice and Service we have completed a variety of service orientated based activities.

Our projects in the past have included serving with Hackney Foodbank, HTB Active and Hillsong London's Green Light Medic back home in the 🇬🇧UK and here at home in the US 🇺🇸 We have completed projects with PCUSA Hoboken Housing Authority, Hoboken Shelter, Jersey Cares and we are excited to launch new activities in the New Year including an Easter project called Share The Miracle. MISSION SCRIPTURE: Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” Romans 15:1
