Free & Fit Advent Challenge Day 10 - Proverbial Prayers & Planks - Advent Devotions from Proverbs with a Word, Proverb & Exercise Everyday - Tuesday 12/10/2024

Today’s Word on December 10th is: Obey - we must seek to find the purpose, plan and apply ourselves obediently to Gods calling on our lives. If we choose an alternative route the outcomes are folly and to the grave. If we obey Him eternal life and salvation are possible.

Today let us obey God, his commands and teachings. Praising Him for sending his one and only son into the world to die for us.

Today’s Proverb and Verse is Proverbs 10 verse One: "The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother."

In the Amplified we are given clearer contrasts between Gladness and Grief. This is the full verse: “The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish [stubborn] son [who refuses to learn] is a grief to his mother.” Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Today’s Movement is Brisk Walking - this is Cardio exercise to improve endurance. We have focused on this as part of our Walk, Jog or Run. You may also wish to utilize speed walking which can help to increase intensity and calorie burn.

Let’s be swift to obey God, to follow Him and not desert our neighbour and remain true to who he has called us to be. We are all made uniquely in the image of God, if you have been created in His image and our Obeying him be assured of his blessings and protection over your life. The obedient are Blessed & Highly Favored!

Full Reflection & Prayer:

The introduction to many of Paul’s letters start with the word “Beloved” this means Brothers and Sisters. The Body of Christ. Therefore, Paul is addressing us all to be able to not avenge ourselves.

“The wise in heart [are willing to learn so they] will accept and obey commands (instruction), But the babbling fool [who is arrogant and thinks himself wise] will come to ruin.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

It’s an almost impossible instruction and reminds me of the teaching in James which identifies our need to be slow to speak, slow to anger and quick to listen. In James 1:19 this is clear “Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving].” This is the way to demonstrate to others the Love of Christ, by being forgiving, considerate and peaceable with others.

When we face challenges, when we face injustice or when we face indifference we are called not to seek for our own truth or justice, but to allow room for the Holy Spirit and for our witness to lead people to Jesus. It’s a somber, humbling and character shaping practice which is extremely difficult.

“He who walks in integrity and with moral character walks securely, But he who takes a crooked way will be discovered and punished.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

So, of course, Paul is the one teaching us in the way to go! Paul has a unique writing style of informing his friends, family and fellow Disciples in the way to go. Paul is renowned for being a loving, compassionate and disciplined Apostle. It is this character which leads us to repentance, Gods mercy and righteousness lead us back to the alter. Where we can find peace, healing and of Gods abounding grace. Yet, we must not take this for granted, seek our own agenda and to avoid the troubling issues in our world. It is an altogether very difficult teaching.

“The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life and his words of wisdom are a source of blessing, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence and evil.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

So I hear you ask how can we practice such patience and kindness to others? We have to ultimately pray. It may sound cliche and altogether too easy, but we have to let go of what we are holding onto and surrender it to God. This is not a simple let go and and let God. It is more of a prayer to seek freedom from our old way of life in pursuing our own morale justice and allowing God to move.

“He who learns from instruction and correction is on the [right] path of life [and for others his example is a path toward wisdom and blessing], But he who ignores and refuses correction goes off course [and for others his example is a path toward sin and ruin].”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Setting aside ourselves, our flesh and our human emotions to ultimately allow freedom for the Holy Spirit to move. For me this is possible through praying the Jesus Prayer. Simply reciting “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on Me a Sinner” perhaps for you it is Phillipians 4:13 “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” However, you find your route to Christ, to demonstrate inner peace to others and share the Love of Christ. I encourage you to all you can to share the Love of God in Jesus name. Amen

Let us Pray…

Lord Jesus Christ be with us this day. Leading us on, showing us the way and teaching us how to follow you more eagerly each day. Help us, save us and transform us into your image in and through the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen

“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
