Free & Fit - Faith & Fit as One Curriculum - Blog Post Session 3 - Word, Workout & Worship

Free & Fit Word, Workout & Worship

Scripture Reference Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery).”

At Free & Fit I have tried to build a motto around my favourite bible verse which is Galatians 5:1 and it talks about finding Freedom in Christ. When we focus on Word, Worship & Workout we see Christ come alive in our very midst. Gods sacred and Holy Word at work as we workout and worship God. The practice of Spiritual and Whole Holy Worship to the Lord our God, the creator of the heavens and the earth can be an intimate and transforming process. The practice of Working Out whilst reciting, meditating and remembering Gods Word whilst worshipping and working out brings light and life to our everyday lives.

We continue the practical study of Gods word and the impact of the verse 2 Timothy 1:7 and the Holy Spirit at work in our everyday lives. The verse reads “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 2 Timothy 1:7.” This verse has significance to me in the context of identifying the Holy Spirit as not being to with fear. That it it not a Spirit or fear that is coming from God and that fear was to do with punishment, but God’s love was to do with perfect love that casts out all fear.

The process by which we identify fear, to becoming fear-less, is helped through working out. Whilst respiring and sweating endorphins flow, perspiration releases tension and allows for the freedom and release of any distractions whilst stress is released individuals are able to draw back closer to God. Add to that the practice of said liturgical prayers, reciting scripture and devotional workout amd worship to the Lord and its possible to find the complete faith and fitness experience as one. When time is set apart to read Gods word, to Worship whilst Working out and meditating and relying on God responding with new revelations, fresh expressions of dialogue with God can open and renew ones faith whilst participating in fitness.

Christ came so that we may have freedom from all things, every challenge life throws our way, through Christ who strengthens me. In the word, workout and worship session we are able to freeze for a moment and to help visualize bringing Gods Word, our Worship and our Workout together as one. To display all three in visual form helps us in our minds bring together our pose, our posture and our positions in Worship and Workout to God as a time for for prayer.

In conclusion, instead of just going to the gym, walking aimlessly with your dog or cycling to escape reality try to bring a small or even a large passage of scripture with you to release the Holy Spirit into your Workout space. Instead of it being a secular lonely fitness emvironment, restore your faith in fitness by inviting the Holy Spirit into your place of Workout to Worship and read Gods word.
