Free & Fit Advent Challenge Day 12- Proverbial Prayers & Planks - Advent Devotions from Proverbs with a Word, Proverb & Exercise Everyday - Thursday 12/12/2024
Todays Word on December 12th is: Give - As we approach Gods throne, as we come to the alter and as scripture instructs us we are asked to go and resolve any disputes we may have before making a tithe or receiving communion. Perhaps we have never followed this instruction or never thought about it as a literal interpretation of the Bible, but it’s pretty clear when we read it.
“So if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and while there you remember that your brother has something [such as a grievance or legitimate complaint] against you, leave your offering there at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come and present your offering.” Matthew 5:23-24 AMP
We are called to be pure, not just by Paul or Peter, but by Christ himself. This is the teaching of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We should be always, everywhere and on all occasions seeking to be peaceable, pure and in reconciliation of any unrighteousness with our fellow Brother and Sister.
Today’s Proverb is Proverbs Twelve Verse One - "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid."
It highlights our need to reconcile with others. In the Amplified this is clear: “Whoever loves instruction and discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof and correction is stupid.”
Proverbs 12:1 AMP

Reflection & Prayer:
The Truth which leads to Godliness is not in spite of grace and righteousness which is freely given from Christ Jesus our Lord. Paul was a personally chosen representative of Jesus Christ tasked with sharing this important teaching and tough Truths from the Book of Titus for us as believers to follow and exemplify to others in our own faith. The book of Titus, 1 and 2 Timothy were written for us as Christians to be examples, edifying and encouraging others in their faith. We too are called to exemplify the ideals of Titus instructed by Paul to others in our own context today.
As the world we see demonstrates values, virtues and vices we wish not to partake in our own lives we have to remind ourselves of the Truth of the Gospel. Not forgetting Christ’s all sufficient grace and freely given sacrifice of the Cross we must keep in constant dialogue with the Holy Spirit to stand on Gods word. Always reminding ourselves that we are ambassadors of the faith, all called as members of the Body of Christ, to be a community of Royal Priesthood of all believers. We are all called to Preach the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The book of Isaiah declares this as a plea for us all to apply to our lives as Christ declared for his own life: “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn. Isaiah 61:1–2, NIV”. Lets us go fourth to love and serve the Lord in the name of Christ.
Therefore, as a community of believers of Jesus Christ let us stand on Gods word, taming our tongues, sharing Gods love and expressing the peace, grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior to those around us. Let us all seek Christ, share Gods Love and embrace the Truth of the Gospel in Jesus name. Amen
Let us Pray…
Father we seek to serve you, but need your help, Holy Spirit and Truth to set us free to share your grace and mercy with our friends and family. Lord teach us in the way to go and enable us to love all those we see, serve and seek to set free for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen
“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
