Free & Fit Advent Challenge Day 22- Proverbial Prayers & Planks - Advent Devotions from Proverbs with a Word, Proverb & Exercise Everyday - Sunday 22nd December 2024
Today’s word on December 22nd is Bless - Blessed are the poor in Spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Life is hard, challenging, difficult and unexpected. The obstacles we face and come up against often come when we least expect it. Our own reality of a situation or circumstance is often never as bad or never as good as we imagine.
Yet the bible tells us repeatedly when we encounter problems or troubles to not be afraid. This is counter cultural to the world we live in where worries and strife exist daily.
Today’s Proverb is Proverbs Twenty Two verse one: “Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.” Proverbs 22:2 NIV
Our movement for today is Rotating Jabs - Upper-body exercises to target dynamic movement and strength exercises. Another inspired by workout by Artiom @artiomtristram!
Reflection:
When we seek help it is so often that we turn to all the wrong places. Social media, coffee, the internet or even the cookie jar. Yet, how do we really need to seek help in times of trouble. It can often seem hard to quantify what it is that we actually need to do when so many things are demanding our attention. What exactly is the mental response we should be given to the scenario or situation we are facing. The Psalms and their author is sure of where to go in times of need for help.
The Psalmist cries out to the Lord for help. The Psalmist cries out: “The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do] From this time forth and forever.”
Such a promise creates a sense of steadfast love, assurance in time of need and an eternal promise which lasts beyond this life and to eternity in heaven. Psalm 80 also helps to really unpack how we can physically and spiritually turn back to God.
Its says in Psalm 80 that we need to seek God to “Turn again [in favor to us], O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,” Psalms 80:14 AMP.
Jesus then seeks us to join him who is the true vine in John 14 and that we should seek Peace, Pursue it and ask the Holy Spirit to come into our lives in Jesus name.
“But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” John 14:26 AMP
So let us today, turn to God and turn away from all those things in our way in Jesus name. Amen
Lets Pray…
Father God, help us to overcome all things, to pray, to seek you and to become more like you in Jesus name. Help us pursue only you in all we do in Jesus name. Amen
“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
Lamentations 3:26 NLT
