Opening Prayer
Father God surround us with your love today, build a hedge of protection around us and guard us everywhere we go. Help us to live from a position of confidence and a blessed assurance to keep us safe, healthy and purposeful for your Kingdom and your Names sake. In Jesus name. Amen

Prayer and Reflection:
As we look forward to an extra day of rest have we planned to actually take rest or busy ourselves with responsibilities and engagements? Labour Day in its origins was to be able to rest from work. To put down the pliers and pick up the pillow to rest, relax and recover.
If you are looking for an invitation to take a day off. This is the Day, Labour Day and if you can’t take tomorrow off be inspired to take another day off. We can’t be Gods fullest version of ourselves unless we take Sabbath rest and God commands us to rest. It’s in the Ten Commandments, it’s in the Gospels and it’s in today’s Devotional!
Ten Commandments
““Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you.”
Exodus 20:8-10 NLT

“Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!””

Todays Encouragement
“So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

Let us not become tired or weary of doing good, but if we take rest in Jesus he promises us rest for our souls as we fix our gaze upon Him.
“When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.”

As we go about our day, let us do so with a renewed purpose, rest and blessed assurance of our salvation, rest and refuge in Jesus Christ! Amen

Prayer for Salvation
Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
