Free & Fit - Summer with the Psalms - Wednesday 4th September Psalm 94

Summer with the Psalms

Wednesday 4th September Psalm 94

Opening Prayer

As we seek to open our doors to you O Lord help us to open doors to others. We beseech you O Lord for our friends, connections and ministry contacts to be receptive to our invitations Father. We seek to serve, build and share your love with our fellow neighbour as ourselves in Jesus name. Amen

Memory Verse

“For the Lord will not abandon His people, Nor will He abandon His inheritance. For judgment will again be righteous, And all the upright in heart will follow it.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭94‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Psalm 94 in Full:

Prayer & Reflection

As we continue our focus on finding Freedom in the Unknown it reminds me of my time as serving in Hillsong New Jersey. My role as a Seminarian and Pastor was to provide access to House Party resources, to pray with leaders and meet with House Party Hosts.

This was an unusual time when we had to socially distance, stand outside with masks on and not connect in any physical contact. We would chat, pray and from a distance pray to the Lord our God often on the side of the street and next to car parks or busy sidewalks. Often when parks were closed, shops were shut and we could only be allowed to socially interact with three or four other people.

Each time I would visit house party leaders every month and would attempt to deliver ten boxes across the state of New Jersey across Union, Essex, Hudson, Bergen and Hunterdon County. The groups included families, couples, singles and divorced Church members. It’s a whole different experience than being a missionary, it was more like a Chaplain type role and purely pastoral care type visitation each time. It would shape my future as I now conduct ministry today.

As my role began to change as conditions developed our group sizes grew from four to six, six to eight and eventually up to ten group members. I remember hosting our own house party with ten guests and being socially exhausted from the in person contact and having to wipe down every door handle, surface and to air the whole house out. It all seems so silly now, but back then it trully was an unknown period and at a time when over 100,000 died to the pandemic and virus Covid 19 in one period in New York City. This was certainly a time of uncertainty, discomfort and the unknown.

In today’s psalm we find reassurances that our God will not leave us or forsake us. That our God will provide, not abandon his people and all the upright in heart will be saved. As we recall the dark days of uncertain past pains or hurts it’s important to remember that God can turn our four into ten, our loaves and breads into plenty and our few into many. Whereever you are on your faith journey always remember we serve a faithful God who can redeem, restore and revive any situation for good! Hallelujah Jesus!

Let’s Pray for Peace right now…

Father God thank you for sending your one and only Son Jesus Christ into our world. We praise you that you see our needs personally, corporately and humanly for what is necessary to bring peace here on earth. We ask Lord that you will redeem all things, redeem all people and redeem humanity for your names sake. In Jesus name. Amen
