Where do you turn when you have nothing left? When running on empty how do you respond to the demands of daily life? This March we have a decision to make as we enter into the season of Lent. If you have not fasted yet, if you have not made a decision it’s not too late and you can start your 40 day continuous inner work tomorrow. Perhaps, like me, you began doing the religious things, but don’t quite feel like you are really there yet. Its ok. You can start tomorrow! Jesus will show up for you!
Yes, Jesus always shows up! Even when he doesn’t want to! For example, Jesus was out with his friends at a party and his Mother decided to ruin all the fun and put him to work! Could you imagine Superman’s Mom asking him to chill the drinks while he was trying to switch off at a friends Wedding? Just because the Kents lived in the peak of summer in Kansas they needed Superman to apply his freeze control to cool all the beers so that people didn’t have to drink warm English like temperature Larger! It would be perhaps distasteful, awkward and appear somewhat cruel to ask him to get to work on his day off. Yet, here is Mary seeking for Jesus to help his fellow humans and knowing full well he just couldn’t refuse!
Yes that’s right. Even in the midst of a day off, even in front of all his friends, when he didn’t want them to necessarily know about his true identity, and when wasn’t ready to reveal his miracle working power. Instead, as the trustworthy Son of God, he responds, turning the water into wine and performing his first ever miracle here in Cana! This all happened as the waiting staff were sighing a huge sigh of relief at the wine that had been provided; even well after the best wine that had been put out on offer. Of course Jesus, as the Wine Merchant, offers the best! Yes, not just the best, but better than all the rest! Jesus is Lord! Hallelujah!
Let us Pray…
Father God we thank you they Jesus is real and can turn any situation right around. Whether we are just fearing tomorrow with the Sunday scaries, if we are just seeking a break through with more new business clients or even if we just need the motivation to meet tomorrows deadline it’s not too late and Jesus can turn all things right around in your favor in Jesus name. Amen
“For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. [Is 40:13]”
