Free & Fit - Lenten Study - Week 6 - Prayers, Planks & Psalms - by Tim Cheux

Free & Fit - Lenten Study - Week 6 - Prayers, Planks & Psalms - Free & Fit Psalm 121:1-2

Jesus Saying of the Week:

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

— John 19:30

Introduction for the Week:

Almighty and most merciful Father,

we have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.

We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done;

and we have done those things

which we ought not to have done;

and there is no health in us.

But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake,

that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,

to the glory of thy holy name.

In Jesus name.

Amen.

Collect for the Week:

Lord God, whose blessed Son our Savior gave his body to be whipped and his face to be spit upon: Give us grace to accept joyfully the sufferings of the present time, confident of the glory that shall be revealed; through Christ Jesus your Son our, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer for the Week by Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt

Lord our God, O great and almighty One, whose Spirit fills heaven and earth! We thank you that you are our Father and that in you we have a refuge wherever we must go as we serve you on earth. We thank you that your life can be revealed in us and can flow through us so that the world may be blest by you, our loving and caring Father. Protect us and strengthen us in times of trouble and sorrow. When we travel on new paths, give us your Spirit to show us the way, that everything may lead to the good and to your honor. Father, through your Spirit unite us in the unshakable hope that your will shall at last be done on earth as in heaven. Grant that we may rejoice in the certainty that whatever happens, our paths are made level and firm by your love and your faithfulness. Amen.

Scripture Psalm 121 for the Week

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]— From where shall my help come?

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber [briefly] nor sleep [soundly].

The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand.

The sun will not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.

The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life.

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do]

From this time forth and forever.”

Workout for the Week:

Reflection for the Week: Recently I have been getting deeper into the creation story. The beginning of scripture in both the Old and New Testament passages. To include the Genesis 1 story and 1 John story. That we would focus on the beginning. That God made us (the Father), that God was with us (the Son) and that God is in us (the Holy Spirit). Each morning it all begins again, God is making all things new and we are a huge part of the rebuild as we all transition our of the 2019 pandemic.

Its just simply stunning to think about how God makes each and every incremental detail of this world from the beauty of humanity, the birds of the sky, the dogs in the urban park and the rolling hills of the country. I know where to go in times of trouble, but do I really? Do I really seek God each morning? The Psalmist helped me this morning: “I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]— From where shall my help come?

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus our Lord! My help comes from the Lord!

This Easter as we get ever so closer to the ultimate sacrifice are we confident of our own future and with the one who holds it? Yes, we maybe thinking about it, but are we truly living it out? Are we making our bodies available to God as a living sacrifice? Lets turn it back to the start. Lets every morning intentionally head out the door at the start with the one who marked out the road in front of us and gave us breath. Lets live a life for Jesus! In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Let us Pray…

Be with us today God, transform us and change us into your image, make us just like you and help us to fix our eyes on you all day long in Jesus name. Amen

Question to Ponder for the Week:

Can you give one example of how Faith and Fitness as One has impacted your relationship with Jesus Christ?

This past Winter I have spent four weeks at the Inwood Manhattan Bible Church. Where I have met the wonderful Denise and Jason to help run a 10, 11 and 12 year old recreational Basketball league and to preach, teach and add to the Churches existing program with an exclusive Free & Fit circuit and Hiit as part of launching the new Free & Fit “Faith and Fitness as One.”

For four weeks on a Saturday we at @freeandfitnyc were serving with @mbcyathletics and @teamnycfca as part of the new Faith and Fitness as one curriculum with Sports (Basketball) and Spirituality (The Lords Prayer) fully immersed as part of the sessions.

We enjoyed sharing every week a devotion with the coaches, the curriculum with the Ballers and Gods word with the community! We cant wait! It was sad, but encouraging on the last day of our four week participation in the @mbcyathletics Basketball League in partnership with @teamnycfca as we piloted our first ever delivery of the Faith and Fit curriculum.

This Easter Holy Week we are offering an exclusive preview of the whole curriculum over six days, including this Blog, to help in preparation and our preparation for Holy Week.

We are hoping to offer this to our online community by sending it out live pre-recorded exclusively to our online community and to offer it live to two lucky winners in one to one sessions. If you would like to participate please email us at freeandfitnyc@gmail.com Its first come, first served for our exclusive one on one sessions which will then be shared live with our audiences during Holy Week!

Please email us at freeandfitnyc@gmail.com all one on one sessions will be done on Zoom unless available to meet in person! Finally, as focused for this week we are completing 40 days of 40 Prayers, Planks and Psalms each week. Today’s focus is on Prayers, Psalms and Planks with Psalm 121 as our focus and prayer. We hope you enjoy the workout, reflection and spirituality of Praying, Planking and Psalming in Jesus name. Amen

Scripture for Breath Exercises and the Week:

“And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth: and there was not a man to till the ground; but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
